Ever since I was young I always loved making things and I decided early on in life that I would rather do something I loved, which is why I chose to pursue film making. My love for films stems back to as early as I can remember and pursuing that passion quickly turned into my one focus, leaving Edinburgh Napier in 2012 with a 1st class Honours degree.

I then started out with Highland company Carbon Dynamic. It was here I learned how important it is to work closely with clients, to build a real relationship and understand the brand and story properly so that I can tell an honest and intriguing story. Ever since then it’s been about building slowly and properly - purchasing the right equipment and improving upon my self as an independent film maker.

I don’t focus or specialise in any particular sector or area - I enjoy the challenge of shooting a range of commercial adverts and documentaries in a vast array of places. From whisky to wildlife, Inverness to Izeda.

My equipment is therefore broad in range to allow me to capture all of these differing industries properly and do them justice. Currently I shoot on an Arri Alexa Mini and DJI inspire 3 (I’m a licenced commercial CAA drone operator). Arri, for years have set the standard in the film industry and a quality and organic image is something I believe sets films apart. I use vintage Zeiss and Lecia glass and light with a vast range of Aperture fixtures. I also have a camper van that allows me to work remotely and flexibly.

All that aside, I have always believed the most important aspect of film-making is emotion. Leaving an impression on the viewer and telling an honest story that is memorable, The imagery comes naturally with that.
